I'm back, all rested and relaxed....

Sorry folks, I have been away from my blog for too long. The end of the school year then off for a nice vacation after that has kept me away. Phew! I'm so happy to be back rested and relaxed.

This week's Diva challenge was to create a tile reflecting "home". I live in southern VT (Vermont) and was vacationing in northern VT, in the Northeast Kingdom, on Lake Willoughby. What a beautiful place. I do love Vermont and I wanted to create a tile showing parts of VT:
Grass Border, Msst, Pokeleaf, Verdigogh, Sunray, Mooz*, Waves, and Splitzer , ahhh, and my snowflakes.
*Mooz I made up to show the cow patterns of our wonderful VT cows :)
I will show you more tiles later on this week, in the mean time, enjoy some Vermont pictures:

Lake Willoughby is the deepest lake in VT that is fully contained in the state. Here are some pics:
Sunset

Looking to the south

Stone bridge between rocks

View from the screened porch

Another sunset

Calm morning looking south.

Beautiful mountains.

Son Cameron and the fish he caught.

Merganser family. Little ducklings were learning how to swim with their heads in the water watching for food.

Beautiful clear water & amazing rock layers

Farm up on the hillside. Our rented camp is in lower left of picture.

As you can see, I love this place.

  1. Oh, what a lovely "retreat" sort of place you got to go to. Your tile does a really good job of displaying this wonderful place. Thanks for sharing.

  2. What a wonderful treat to see some of your lovely home, Janee. Your photos remind me of Scotland! Mind you, we call them LOCHS around here LOL! I love your zentangle tile - very expressive and what a great idea to use VT as a string!

  4. Love your pictures, Jane! So beautiful up there.. I haven't gotten up much to the 'Kingdom' since the days my son was going to camp on the Canadian side of Lake Memphremagog! Ah... vacation.. one of these years I'd like to get the wider family to come here to VT for our joint vacation. I'm counting the days to our vacation next month!

  5. Thanks folks, for your kind words. The camp is not ours, we just rented it for a week. My guess is that we will be back there another year (for two weeks next time!). It was great and my husband, a big fisherman, was excited that the lake was quite deep so he could go trolling for the fish. A good time was had by all. Lorraine, when you google Lake Willoughby it will tell you that "Lake Willoughby, also known as the Lucerne of America, is considered by some as being the most beautiful lake in Vermont. " They also say that it is like a Norwegian Fjord. I guess we can add that it's like a loch in Scotland!
