Oops & Duo Tangle challenge

Somehow I missed a week. I'll just blame it on the flu that attacked me a week ago. I'm all better now, trying to catch up with life.

This past week I taught two Zentangle classes at Kim Ray's Art Gallery/Studio in Londonderry. They were a lot of fun and can't wait for the next classes on 10/9 and 10/12. Check out my classes page for more information. Here are some of the final tiles:

After missing a challenge entry, I got this week's Diva challenge, a duo tangle using Jonqal and Opus tangle patterns. It felt great to get back to tangling on a tile (MUCH different than on a presentation board). So here's my tile of the week:

Enjoy!

Feeling the love

Love is in the air and in our Zentangle challenge this week. As you know, Vermont got hit pretty hard by Irene. A few of my friends have lost their houses completely, or partially and I've seen much destruction while driving around. My heart goes out to those who have lost so much. What amazes me is the outpouring of love from all Vermonters and our neighboring states (and farther) to help those in need.
This is our main street the evening of the storm:

Looking to the right (and the two rivers met):

Here are some fields with a road under water. I'm standing on the bridge where the water usually goes under:

And here's my tile feeling the love from all the helping hands:

"Pair of Ducks" challenge

Yay, we made it through our first week of school! I was so exhausted when I got home from school every day that after all the chores, I'd crash pretty hard and not get any tangling done. Tonight I forced myself to sit down and see what I could do with this week's Diva challenge, brought to us via Maria at Zentangle, using only Rick's Paradox tangle pattern. I knew that I would enjoy it. The first one I made was using a string that I had thrown on a tile a while back and had never done anything with it.

I like it more than I thought I would. The next one I had fun using the title of the challenge. (tee hee) It was a little more challenging but I like it a lot. So here is my pair of ducks.....

Thank you Laura and Maria. You gave me a nice ending to my week. Now I'm ready for the weekend!

"Kiss my Grids"

I was out of power until Thursday due to Irene (and a huge tree falling on the power lines ripping the lines right off of our house) so I made 2 area rugs out of old t-shirts and started in on a baby present for a little one who will be joining our world next Wednesday, in less he decides to come out sooner.

This is the baby present so far, I incorporated this week's challenge, Kiss My Grids, by using only grid patterns for the background.

The lighting wasn't great, and I'm too tired to fix it. Bedtime for Bonzo. I hope little Parker Anthony will like it.

OK, back to the area rug. I have an explanation below and here's a picture of it on the loom:
