Awareness Continues

I want to thank little Artoo and his wonderful family for the opportunity to learn about Moebius Syndrome. It has been very interesting to learn about this rare neurological disorder. Artoo's mom, Laura- aka the Diva, put forth this week's challenge to have us use the Moebius Syndrome graphic as our starting off point string. Funny because I almost used this as a string last week. I was happy to jump in and tangle away. I created my own string, hence the off balance of it.

I love the basic design.

Purple haze - challenge #54

Purple is the color associated with Moebius Syndrome. Laura Harms is the person enticing me to create a fun zentangle every week through her challenges and is (super)mother of a little one with a very rare neurological disorder - Moebius Syndrome. The challenge this week is to create a tile with a little purple in it. I decided to try also adding a Moebius strip. Here is my tile:

Interesting to wrap my mind around tangling a Moebius strip.

As promised, I have a new tangle for you to try out. Go on over to see Whyz.

Whyz

Here's a new tangle for you. Last week I called it Y-Knot but was notified that Molly Hollibough has a tangle similarly named so I changed the name to Whyz because you create it using Y's.

Enjoy!

Undine love.

It's great to be back at the diva challenges. Laura took a well deserved vacation from her wonderful weekly zentangle challenges but is now back. Yay! Thanks to Laura for her wonderful blog and amazing talent. She gets me thinking outside of the box every week and gets my pen to paper. I'm not sure that I would actually create tiles every week if I didn't have the challenges to do. I'm pretty sure that I would get lazy and not produce zentangles as much as I do. I am grateful. While Laura took her break I mainly worked on the schneeglobin and stars. I did some tangling on tiles, but I mostly worked on ZIA (zentangle-inspired art).

The challenge this week was to create a tile using her new tangle, Undine. It was fun to give it a spin and use it in a few different ways. I did have fun and it was great to get back in the zentangle saddle. This shows my "Undine" love for Zentangle:
Undine (diva's), Yknot (my own creation), and the leaves.....I'm not sure where I found those.

I feel that I need to loosen up a bit, this tile feels a bit too precise for how I felt, but I guess it's because I'm out of practice. I'll have to work on it this week.

I will be posting my directions to Yknot soon. Please stay tuned.

Feeding my muse

I had some fun this week with a FREE multi-media online class from strathmore with Traci Bautista. Here are the first layers:

Then I added a lot of spray paint, craypas, acrylic paint, markers, crayons, and white-out. I even got to add some tangles!

Very cool. I can't wait to see what we get to do this week.

Happy 2012!

I have been away from my blog during the vacation weeks but not away from my tangling and creating. It was a great holiday period, seeing my boys, working down at the gallery, visiting with friends and family, and enjoying some down time. It might been a wee bit more enjoyable if we had some good snow, but I know that the snow will come. My Scneeglobbin was sold to a friend in Florida, who was kind enough to send pictures of the snowman in different areas of their house and yard. My favorite pic is below, doesn't he look happy?

I also made a few tangled stars (and a bookmark) out of lids to take-out containers:

And, during some of that wonderful down-time, I came across this photo from National Geographic. A tangled house!

I'm off to visit my son selling his creations at the Dorset Farmer's Market today. Hopefully I'll have some pictures for you next time. He made some awesome jewelry. May you all have a wonderful, healthy, creative, and prosperous new year.
