I enjoyed, as always, Diva's challenge this week. A new tangle has come out recently, Assunta, and we were challenged to create a zentangle using it. I also threw in the other new tangle, Prestwood. Assunta is so much fun because there are so many different ways to "dress" it up. This was my first attempt with both and I'm pretty happy with it. I needed a dark filler so I just made a lot of cross hatch marks. Yay!
Here it is:
On a side note, this summer I decided to try out those potato grow bags. Here is the first crop that I dug up for dinner the other day. How about that heart! They were quite yummy.
A place to share my musings. There are so many ideas around us and I try to play with the ones that tickle my fancy. Zentangle, needle felting, wet felting, garden art, photography, kayaking.

I'm on a roll
Actually, I have to get this done before I head back home tomorrow. I found it real hard to blog while on "vacation" because there was so much to get done. That didn't stop me from checking out patterns though. Look what we found in Helsinki: Ynot?
Awesome! Then I found a little VT in the city
In response to this week's challenge, A Tile Within a Tile, I have played around with a couple of ideas. The first was from the Finnish pine tree I found on our walk.
Here's a simple one:
And then I decided to be more serious...
Okay, time to go,

Finland
Ah, a week in Nummela. Certainly not enough time to enjoy it all, but enough to gather up what we must and head back home. The weather has been quite good, the walks at 9:30 at night in sunlight have been wonderful, and watching for patterns has been keeping us on our toes.
Look what I found on our walks:
Nettle
Tire tracks
Finnish Pine
And the beautiful birch forest walk:
Here's last week's Diva challenge. Yikes, I guess the traveling has set me back some. Oh yes, I do remember...this one used a curvy string with straight edged tangles.
And the straight lined string using curvy tangles:
Fun, fun, fun.

Just playing around
I'm trying to make time in my days to just play around. There are so many ideas floating around in my head and it's so easy to get lost in the shuffle of ideas. If I take time out to indulge in some of those ideas then I'm a happier camper. Here's a tile I drew the other day:
I still want to do this week's Diva Challenge, but in the mean time I've been thinking of new ideas. Next week my sister and I are heading to Finland for a week and hopefully you will be seeing some of the patterns along the way. My zentangle supplies are definitely getting packed in the carry-on bag.
One of my thoughts was, "what would the tile look like if I tinted it with coffee?"
Interesting. Now that I look back at the top photo, I see a coffee color shadow in the upper right hand corner....that's not it. It's hard to tell with these photos but perhaps this will help:
Oh oh, time to go to work.

#33 pendrills and such
Okay, so I have had my normal crazy busy week. What's up with that? Oh to just have a super relaxed week; I guess that I'll have to go on vacation again. Today is Friday ( huh, I thought that it was Saturday!) and I finally got around to work on my challenge Zentangle for the diva challenge. First I wanted to play around with the pendrills tangle, so I painted it on a rock that I pre-painted a la Sandy Bartholomew's Yoga for your Brain:
I then went on to a tile. I wasn't thrilled with it but once I got the shading added I was a bit happier. Just one of those things, I guess.
It's a funny thing..I'm liking it more today than yesterday.
